Nathan Applebee

Professional Staff | Nathan has a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Ohio State University and experience with a range of modeling and visualization tools. He enjoys the fusion of both technical and creative aspects of architecture and is passionate about utilizing innovative and sustainable design methods. Nathan appreciates attention to detail in his work and enjoys collaborating with others. In his free time, he is an avid movie watcher and loves outdoor activities such as hiking and skiing.

Chris Dumford

President, Architect | Chris enjoys leading projects from conception to completion and is particularly gifted at integrating the creative and technical parts of a design. His wife, kids, and dog tolerate the extensive repertoire of 80’s tunes he plays on his 12 string guitar.

Lauren Cameron

Interior Designer | Lauren is an interior designer who brings her strong communication skills and team oriented focus to the aspects of space planning and material selection. In her spare time, Lauren is an avid concertgoer and enjoys the outdoors through hiking and running.

Carol Aziz

Interior Designer | Carol graduated Miami University magna cum laude with department of Architecture and Interior Design honors, earning her BFA in Interior Design with a minor in Film Studies. She is passionate about creating unique experiences through design, believing that, by creating personalized spaces that reflect the client and their specific needs, her work can have a positive and meaningful impact on their everyday lives. Having moved to the United States from Cairo, Egypt when she was 20, Carol views design as a universal language that can reach everyone regardless of where they are from. When not at work, Carol loves to spend time with friends, watch movies, and travel whenever she cans.

Catie Davison

Vice President, Director of Interior Design | Catie guides a team of designers to create engaging and functional interior spaces. With a 2nd degree in sociology, she greatly enjoys learning about her client teams. Catie loves to garden, hike and plan themed parties. She enjoys personal building projects, including constructing a cabin in KY with her family.

Zoey Howard

Interior Designer | Zoey graduated from Miami University summa cum laude and with department of Architecture and Interior Design honors. She is known for being highly motivated and excited about new challenges and learning opportunities. Minoring in Urban Design with a sociology and planning emphasis, she brings her passion for community, diversity, and inclusion into each project. She enjoys designs that push boundaries and expectations, viewing her work as a means to inspire and welcome everyone. Outside of the office, you will likely find Zoey drawing, playing games, spending time with loved ones, or researching something new.

Evan Kelsey

Vice President, Architect | Evan is a Registered Architect and a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. He has been a member of the VSWC team since 2013 and specializes in preparing construction documents and managing projects under construction. Outside of work, he enjoys the great outdoors and participating in shenanigans.

Brad Adams

Vice President | Brad has extensive experience managing a wide variety of projects. His extreme attention to detail, personable manner and reliability makes him an earnest leader and workman to staff and clients alike. Outside of work, he enjoys hunting excursions and sitting at the ballpark with a beer in hand.

Tyler Knox

Architectural Staff | Tyler sets the BIM standards for our office. He manages construction documents and is well rehearsed in Revit, along with various rendering technologies. Tyler’s technical knowledge permeates his home life through constructing Lego skyscrapers with his young son and building his wife’s Pinterest projects.

Clayton Arvin

Professional Staff | Clayton is a Graduate of the University of Michigan with experience in BIM modeling and a variety of visualization tools. He enjoys challenges that allow him to test and expand these skills and is always working to communicate and develop a client’s vision through rendering and technical documentation. Clayton’s dedication to collaborative, responsible design makes him an asset to any architectural design team. In his down time, he enjoys playing tabletop games with friends and exploring the outdoors.

Nick Gilliland

Innovative Technology Lead | Nick is an expert in the fields of Building Information Technology, and community engagement. When behind the computer, Nick loves to let his creative side kick in with creating video edits and building renderings. In his spare time, he loves watching movies and kayaking.

Brad Neavin

Director of Business Development | After a career of 32 years in public education, Brad contributes his extensive experience in the planning and oversight of school facilities construction. His role with the firm is to build client relationships and assist them with program visioning, community engagement, and creative solutions for development and funding. Brad enjoys family, travel, golf, and the ongoing mastery of fire and food.

Trent DeBruin

Vice President, Architect | Trent is a passionate Architect who values good design in all projects; large or small. He is dedicated, organized and creative with an emphasis on responsibility, collaboration and positivity. Trent truly enjoys his profession and leads our Athens, Ohio office. In his down time, he enjoys raising cattle on his farm.

April Nichols

Marketing Specialist | April has 20 years' experience in graphic design and marketing. She has used her skills in advertising and publishing by helping local community organizations and small businesses. She is a fan of all types of design, but landscape design is near and dear to her. In April’s off time, you’ll find her in the garden or at a Dave Matthews Band concert.

Eric Pagán

Professional Staff | Eric is an Architectural Drafter with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati. Throughout his academic journey, he was a Turner Scholar for Inclusion and Leadership and a member of the AIAS Executive Board. Eric is dedicated to expanding his architectural knowledge and expressing his creativity throughout every project. In his free time, you can find him hitting the trails on his mountain bike.

Brian Gilliland

Vice President, Architect | Brian is well versed in all phases of the building process and is our anchor for innovative technology. His down-to-earth demeanor and practical problem-solving approach sets him apart as a firm leader. He enjoys watching his kids play competitive sports and loves jammin’ out to Van Halen.

Maddie Cooke

Professional Staff, BIM Specialist | Maddie is highly skilled architectural drafter. Alongside fieldwork, she enjoys creating visualizations allowing clients to see their project before it’s built. You will appreciate her personable manner and ability to always exceed project deadline expectations. Outside of work you can find her cooking and spending time with her dog.

Jim Voorhis

Vice President, Architect | Jim is a highly skilled and organized architect with deep experience in all aspects of architectural services. He enjoys spending time with his wife Mindy, running marathons, attending FC Cincinnati games and he is a devoted OSU football fan!

Kennedi Walden

Marketing Specialist | Kennedi is a marketing specialist with a degree from the University of Cincinnati. Her passion for marketing stems from a desire to innovate and explore new creative horizons. In her free time, she loves spending quality moments with loved ones, hosting game nights, and taking her dog for walks.

Eric Thompson

Architect | Eric has more than 30 years of experience in a wide variety of building types and scales, and he has served in leadership roles in both the design and delivery of projects. Eric's easygoing manner and sense of humor, combined with his professionalism and commitment to excellence, have made him a valued collaborator for project stakeholders. Outside of work, Eric enjoys spending time with his family, playing and recording music, and cooking.

A Rich History

Celebrating a history that began 70 years ago when architect Alvin “Al” Voorhis launched his practice out of a small garage in Mason, VSWC has evolved through nearly seven decades, hundreds of successful client relationships, and an increasingly enviable project portfolio. Formerly named Voorhis, Slone, Welsh, Crossland Architects, our growth over the past several decades prompted two rebrands with the most recent launching in 2018. Today, we are a leading education, wellness, and civic architecture firm with a sustainable approach to design. We continue to create high-performance architecture, planning, and interior design solutions that not only wow and withstand, but also enrich people’s lives and serve the greater good.
